When you’re headed into a difficult conversation, consider starting by accusing yourself of some of the things THEY might accuse you of. This shows self-awareness, that you’re trying to put yourself in their shoes, and that you care about the relationship. It’s a technique called the Accusation Audit from the book Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss.
